One of the longest-running and respected fishing tournament organizations in the country, WON BASS has served as a breeding ground for elite anglers since the 1970s. Its legendary-as-much-as-infamous U.S. Open at Lake Mead and California Open at Clear Lake events have launched competitive bass anglers into the tournament-fishing stratosphere as the prestige and opportunities that follow finishing atop those leaderboards are nothing short of life changing.

Supported by monthly special sections inserted in weekly Western Outdoor News publications, WON BASS and its unique “shared weight” format beings pros and amateur anglers together in the smoothest-run tournament trail in the fishing world.

What's on Tap for 2017?

WON BASS is proud to announce Bass Cat Boats and Mercury Motors as our 2017 Open’s title sponsors. This year’s 3-day California Open at Clear Lake will be held May 24th-26th, out of Konocti Vista Casino and Resort.

The Cal Open is in its 5th year and looks to be set up at the perfect time of year for some huge bags. This year’s Cal Open first place pro prize is a brand new 2017 Bass Cat Sabre FTD paired with a Mercury 150 HP ProXS Optimax with trailer worth $33K and $15,000 with a 100-boat field. In October WON BASS will be hitting the infamous Lake Mead for the 35th anniversary installment of the event.

This year’s U.S. Open is scheduled for October 16th, 17th and 18th, to allow more time for the hundreds of anglers that look forward to making the annual trip to test their skills and equipment in the most grueling event in the nation.

The 2017 U.S. Open Pro Champion will be taking home a brand new Bass Cat Puma FTD with a Mercury 250 ProXS Optimax and trailer worth a cool $61K, plus the $50,000 cash for first place based on 150-boat field. Last year’s U.S. Open had a record-breaking attendance with 186 pro entries, and we expect to eclipse the 200-boat mark this year.
