Hart and Zank do it Again

Windy conditions greeted the 14 teams that showed up to Castaic Lake to fish the sixth tournament of seven in the WON BASS Southern California Region. In fact, the lake staff mentioned that there was a great chance the lake would be closed for the day. However, they allowed us to launch and the weather was excellent. The bite up at the lake had been pretty consistent leading up to the tournament, but falling water presented the anglers with anything but wide open fishing.

Third place went to the team of Mike Reese and Tony Capparelli with 13.44 lbs. Mike fished by himself and hit an option paying $80.

Matt Styles and Kevin Jones took fourth place with 11.84 lbs and also hit an option for $60.

Thank you to all of the teams who showed up and our last event of the season is coming up on Sunday, June 6 at Lake Castaic.

Once again, first place was Mike Hart and Zank with 20.37 lbs. They also caught the largest fish of the contest, 7.96 lbs. Mike and Zank took home $1,590 and caught all of their fish on oxblood light 4” Roboworms in 5’-20’ of water except for the big fish which ate a Zank Bait swimbait. Mike and John thanked Phenix Rods, Roboworm, Yamamoto baits, and Peregrine boat detailer for their support. Once again, great job Mike and Zank!

Second place went to Chris Dixon and Lamont Brumfield with 15.24 lbs. Chris and Lamont finished in second place a few weeks ago up at Lake Pyramid and are definitely on a roll. Chris and Lamont fished worms all day and won $640 and a pair of nice plaques. Keep it up Chris and Lamont!
